Alex

So my nephew Alex and his father came for a visit a while back and here are some cute pictures. I have a really cute one of them in the bath after a day of sprinkler fun but I'm not sure his mother would approve of me posting Alex in his full glory.

And yes, Alex has a mohawk .

Blueberries

I went blueberry picking with my father in law and we got about 2 gallons. I made jam and canned some whole and froze some. We went pretty early in the season and there were still alot of green ones which made the picking slower. I might try to go again this week. only $5 a gallon.Isn't that awesome. It's a nice old couple who have been in the same house for 70 years or something and have a grove? of blueberry bushes in their backyard. When we finished picking they invited us to sit and tell them something interesting.

My garden looks lousy this year and I'm bummed, but I have been able to do much with it this year. Drought and lack of good tilling seemed to do a number on it. I'm still getting those weirdo cucumbers and the tomatoes are ripening but the bushes look spindley. =(

Wake Up Call

My 22 month old son has a habit of coming into my room early 6:30ish and cuddling with me till I get up with him. He also has a fascination with hair and twirls his own at the top of his head all the time. He also loves to twirl yours if you are cuddling with him. Being very pregnant at this point I'm reluctant to get up in the morning and my wake up time keeps getting later.

Well, yesterday George came in and cuddled as usual. He was playing with my hair but as the time crept to 7:30 he got bored and decided to stick the hair he was playing with up my nose. Aaaaaaaaaaghhhhhh, that is the worst tickley feeling you can get. I definitely was awake after that and hoping he would not realize how effective his tactic in waking me up was.

The Revenant Culture

Joffre has started an art and culture zine called The Revenant Culture. It is the official zine for The Silver Chair Bookstore. It is taking submissions for articles, poetry, and black and white artwork (color for the blog). I just posted my first post for the blog. Check it out.

New Rug

An long time friend of my parents was getting rid of this fun animal rug. I always liked it and was happy to have it. It was intended to put in the boys' room but I liked it and wanted it for my living room. Fun isn't it?

I usually have a cream colored slip cover for the blue couch but Joffre Jr is still using it for his bed while he recoups. I really want new curtains which I hate trying to pick out and I need to figure out how to hang pictures on my plaster walls. Any one have any tips? The kids saw the photo op and immediately sat down and posed. It was funny.

Joffre Jr. is crawling around the house but very hesitant to walk still. He crawls upstairs and everything.

I also rearranged my den recently to make a library/schoolroom. It looks a lot nicer but I can't find the picture so you'll have to take my word for it.

Pickles

Dill pickles are my latest canning attempt. We have to wait 3 months to see if it was a success.

Jam Makin' Fool

So I made peach jam. Lots of peach jam. 6 batches of peach jam. (2 batches went home with a friend who made it with me.) It was a lot of work, but I am so happy every time I look at my jars. I haven't put them away yet cause I'm still glowing with pride. I'm sure I'll eventually can something and not brag here but not yet.

Aren't these fun bookplates from Mahar Drygoods?
