Spring is Coming

My little workers.

I am trying making woven branch beds.

I finally finished filling in 2 more beds and planted asparagus and onions.

The wheelbarrow is a big hit with the kids. They all wanted to use it but Renata was the only one who could do move it in the right directions.

Did you know "George" means farmer? He was loving getting in the dirt.

I have some cabbage and broccoli and kohlrabi that so far have survived the winter!

Pride

This post by Pastor Toby Sumpter is terrific . It is interesting because I have been thinking a lot about pride lately. So this was a humbling  and well timed read. I hope it is a blessing to you as well.

I also found this article on homosexuality really interesting. It is really crazy sometimes to see how little research/knowledge is behind many widely held ideas.

Stuff I've been thinking about

Easter is coming. I am so not ready. I found this great list of 50 Easter gifts that aren't candy.( Though "Barbie" a the the end there seems like they were running out of steam.) There are a lot of the gifts we usually put in our baskets on this list. I love to put flip flops in ours. I think I am going to get an audio book for each of the kids too. They are really enjoying audio books right now.

I also do get them candy ...speaking of which. ...I am in love with cinnamon imperials. It's like a rekindled romance for me and red hots. I am eating a small bowl full right now. (contented sigh.)

Lastly I am in love with this Amy Butler fabric. I love it and I am not a big fan of Amy Butler but I love the navy blue and flower thing going on here. I might have to buy some to make more purses or a dress.

I am making a purse for the Handmade Night ( everyone who comes has to make 2 things and gets to go home with 2 things) I am having soon. I love the one I made and don't want to give it up. I used vintage fabric and gingham and it is super cute but I can't put it up here because someone coming to the event will see it and I want it to be a surprise. I went to our craft store and they were having a sale on patterns for 99cents and got two more bag/purse patterns. I don't know why but I love making purses. I need to make more clothes. Clothes are hard to get to fit just right. I think I am done babbling.

Roses

I found this tutorial online on how to make these fabric roses. It is a bit time consuming but they are so cool. I am thinking of making them for my church's ball as part of the decor. I am going to figure out something to put them in and add leaves. I have been afraid to even cut them down till I know what I want to put them in.

What's Your Favorite Vegetable?

Joffre had the kids play a "game" at the dinner table a few weeks ago. He asked them a series of questions  starting with.."What's your favorite...?" It was a huge hit and the ask him to ask them their favorite things all the time now.

The kids took the initiative and now ask each other questions at the table. Today I walked in and heard George say, "What's your favorite vegetable?". The kids' rapidly fired answers where, "cucumbers", "cucumbers", "cucumbers" and "um...peanut butter and jelly sandwiches". There is always one in a crowd. ( actually there is just a 3 year old.)
